Live Music-Visuals Composer

with Peggy Gyulai and Onadime
January 6-7, 2002

This abstract live music visualization Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia event was the premiere event in in the Perelman Theater of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It literally was the very first event in the new chamber concert hall.

Collaborating with with oil painter Peggy Gyulai to create a new visualization for Haydn's "Overture to Chaos." The work develops themes of darkness and movement, incorporating her oil paintings as graphic textures reacting to the changing music. The intention was to capture the primeval darkness - the void from which everything springs; A meandering exploration, punctuated by explosive light.

Ms. Gyulai states that, "The digital collage made in this creative process makes direct connections between the musical and visual arts, but as importantly, serves as a bridge between Haydn's musical world and our own electronic present." (program performance notes)

Events Gallery As Technical Director for "Overture to Chaos", Phillip states that, "The themes and rich historical perspectives of Haydn's Creation provided a perfect fit with the expressive potentials of Onadime … to manifest the creative light in the exploration of chaos and harmony." (program performance notes)
